Good News and Room Pics
This afternoon I got some news I wasn't expecting. The genetic counsellor called to let me know that I was NEGATIVE for all nine of the breast-cancer-related gene mutations they tested me for. (Negative = GOOD in case you have forgotten!) I didn't realize how much I was expecting to hear that I had a bad gene until I found out I didn't. Now, of course, there are potentially 'bad' copies of other genes out there that we aren't aware of yet, but I will still count this as a win. During the call I also elected to go ahead with a larger panel of genetic testing for other genes linked to non-breast cancers and will find out more about those results soon. This was a great way to end the day. I got to spend today with kid #1 and was glad for her company, so the day was already shaping up to be a good one. :)
I know many of you were interested in seeing our kiddo's finished room! I am NOT known to be one who posts pictures of my home decor, but this has been quite the project and got done in record time.
First, here is her 'old' room, now a guest room. It is SMALL (8.5 x 9 feet) but we managed to squeeze the queen guest bed in there and will need to get some side tables and lamps and curtains to finish it up but it was functioning enough for mom to test it out last week. I think I'll leave the trippy light in there. :)
Kid #2's new room is the biggest bedroom in the house now! She has done a great job setting it all up and Rick and I were happy to have this fun diversion the last couple of weeks. Light strips from Ciocia Jadzia, new bed and wardrobe and dressing table from Ikea, desk was the one mom and dad bought me 22 years ago at Ikea when I was moving to Halifax, lounge chair is a hand-me-down from a friend...overall a big success.
Wait...so now we've got to stay on the main floor like schmucks?! Does this mean getting up before 10 AM when we visit?!?!
ReplyDeleteNah...you can still sleep in. But not if I don't get you some better curtains to block the sun.
DeleteGreat news Amy!! And M’s room looks fantastic! Well done everyone.
