I Love Week 3!
I think this is the longest I've gone without writing a post. This week has flown by. I did lots of walking in the beautiful spring weather and have averaged about 10 km each day. Monday was the first day that I wasn't totally exhausted after a walk, and I am determined to walk as much as I can while I'm feeling well. The numbness in my hands and feet seeems to have improved a bit (or else just seems better since I feel better?) and my taste buds have definitely recovered a little bit, though they are still not at their full tasting potential.
On Tuesday I attended an online 'Look Good Feel Better' workshop about skincare during cancer treatment. It was fun, despite being online, and I feel more prepared to deal with losing my eyebrows if that ever happens. :) It was nice to see a bunch of bald heads in the Zoom call and the people who ran the workshop were kind and knowledgeable. My skin has been VERY dry, and I am very sensitive to the sun these days so I have to be careful about remembering sunscreen. Here is a picture of my after the workshop, with 'enhanced' eyebrows (they have thinned out quite a bit) and pink cheeks (I had rosy sun-kissed cheeks so that *plus* a little blush may have been a bit much).
On Wednesday evening, my fabulous sister arrived for a visit. It was wonderful to have her here with us for a few days and she had the AMAZING idea of booking us a private showing of the new Top Gun movie. We had watched the original together many, many times when we were younger. I was thrilled that she thought of this because I certainly hadn't had any plans to go to the germy theatre any time soon. Four of my favourite grownup humans were able to join us and I sprung my girls and a couple of their friends from school so they could come too. With my sister at my side, a bag of popcorn, and the adrenaline rush of the fighter jet scenes, it was an awesome afternoon. Much like the original movie, the flying was the best part. ;)
I truly enjoy my time alone but having my sister here was really wonderful. There is something so comforting about having people around that know me well and fit comfortably into the regular flow and routine of our house. My visits from both my mom and my sister have brought me comfort and a closeness that we usually miss out on since we live 2 hours away from each other.
As I fully embrace my good health during week three, we have more visitors arriving today. In normal times I would never plan to have visitors back-to-back like this, but right now I need to squeeze in as much goodness as I can while I'm feeling perky. Emily and Aaron, two of our oldest and dearest friends, will be here soon. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to hugging them and having them here.
What a remarkable sister you have . Such a cool idea!
